Coin Method

📸 How to Size Your Nails Using the Coin Method

Finding your perfect fit is as easy as taking a selfie! Save time with just two quick photos per hand:

  • ✨ Step 1: Grab Your Coin
Find a standard coin (penny, nickel, dime, or quarter). Place your hand flat on a table and set the coin right next to your fingers so everything is level.

  • 📸 Step 2: Snap Two Quick Pics
No need to take a picture of every single finger, babe! Just snap one clear photo of your four fingerstogether with the coin, and a separate photo of just your thumb flat next to the coin. Repeat for your other hand!

  • 🔍 Step 3: Check the Focus
Before uploading, double-check your shots. Make sure we can see your entire hand, all your nails from side-to-side, and the full coin clearly. No blurry angles or cut-off edges!

  • 💌 Step 4: Send Them Over!
Send your photos directly to me! I will handle all the math and perfectly match your unique sizes to your custom GlossedByHay nails for a flawless, seamless fit.

Tape & Ruler Method

📏 How to Measure Your Nails Using Tape & a Ruler

Don't have a sizing kit? No worries, babe! Grab some household tape and a ruler to find your custom GlossedByHay sizes in four simple steps:

  • ✨ Step 1: Tape It Down
Place a piece of clear tape horizontally across the widest part of your natural nail. Press it firmly down into the sidewalls (where your nail meets your skin) so it hugs the natural curve perfectly.

  • ✍️ Step 2: Mark the Edges
Using a fine-tip pen or marker, draw a precise vertical line on the tape at the exact points where your nail meets the skin on both the left and right sides.

  • 📏 Step 3: Flatten on a Ruler
Peel the tape off your nail carefully and press it completely flat along a ruler. Align one mark with the "0" line on the millimeter (mm) side of the ruler.

  • 📝 Step 4: Count the Millimeters
Count the tiny millimeter lines between your two marks. Write down the exact millimeter size for each finger (from thumb to pinky) for both hands and send them over to me!

Sizing Support & FAQs

In-Between Sizes?

If you're between sizes, we recommend sizing up. It's much easier to file down a slightly larger nail for a custom fit than to make a small one work.

Left vs. Right Hand

It's normal for your dominant hand to be slightly larger. Measure both hands carefully; if they differ, pick sizes that match each finger individually.

Wide or Narrow Beds

For flatter, wider beds, size up and use the included file for the sides. For narrow beds, focus on the width across the widest part of your natural nail.

Adjusting for Fit

If a tip feels 'off', gently file the side walls or cuticle area. Press-ons are flexible—a small adjustment makes them look and feel like a salon set.

Lifespan & Reusability

Our custom sets are designed for long-term wear. With proper care and gentle removal, each set can be worn 3-5 times, totaling up to 10 weeks of use.

Home Adjustments

Minor fit issues can usually be solved at home! Use your kit's file to gently slim the sides or soften the cuticle edge for a seamless, secure bond.

Exchanges & Remakes

Due to the custom nature of our work, we don't offer full exchanges once a set is made. However, we do offer single nail remakes at a discounted rate if you find your initial sizing was slightly off.
